Människors hemligaste reaktioner och känslor inför
varandra är plötsligt synliga för alla genom genom
färg; sprutande färg, kastad färg och droppande färg.
Föreställningen Expressions avslöjar de osynliga trådar
som binder oss alla samman och förvandlar hela
scenen till expressionistisk konst.
Expressions is a performance theatre piece, made for an adult audience and an expression that will be possible to understand in any language;
Our goal is to explore human nature beyond ethnic, cultural and religious differences. Our feelings. That wich is highly subjective, but common ground for all of us. In Expressions we colour our communication and reactions to each other, with spouting colours, painted colours, thrown colours, colours that slowly spreads under the actor’s clothes. We want to visualize what happens between us, beyond words. We will use ordinary life situations and turn them into expresionist art on stage.

Expressions är en performance och en teaterföreställning där vi tar fasta på den del av det mänskliga som är bortom etniska, kulturella och religiösa skillnader. Den högst subjektiva, men gemensamma grunden för oss alla. I Expressions färgläggs kommunikation och reaktioner av sprutande färg, målad, kastad färg, och färg som sakta sprida sig under skådespelarnas kläder.
Målet är att visualisera vad som händer mellan oss, bortom ord. Vad vi gör med varandra, hur vi hör ihop och influerar varandra så mycket mer än vi tror, även i vardagliga situationer som när vi tar spårvagnen, eller gå till snabbköpet.
Karakteristiskt för expressionismen är grälla färger, subjektiva perspektiv och deformitet och avsikten är att väcka känslor i betraktaren och att tala om samtidsfrågor. Visuellt kommer scenen att förvandlas till ett expressionisktiskt konstverk under föreställningens gång.
Den återkommande karaktären i Expressions är en västerländsk man mellan 40 och 50 år, inspirerad av svenska politiker och affärsmän. Den västerländkse mannen är en symbol för välstånd och makt för många människor idag, och många har starka känslor för honom, men hur relaterar han till de förändringarna samhället genomgår, till den skiftande globala maktbalansen, och de projiceringar som resten av världen placerar på honom? Känner han sig så stark? Vad skrämmer honom? Vad längtar han efter? Hur reagerar han på andra människor? Hur färglägger vi honom?
Expressions visar att vilka vi än är så påverkar vi varandra. Vi hör ihop genom osynliga trådar. Det är dessa trådar uppsättningen vill synliggöra och i det avseendet är den en protest mot krafter i samhället som vill att vi ser varann som främlingar.

What we do to each other, what we subject each other to every day, how we connect and influence each other far more than we think, even in ordinary life situations like taking the subway or going to the supermarket. In fact we will use theese ordinary life situations and turn them into expresionist art on stage.
Characteric for expressionism is garish colours, subjective perspectives, and deformity, it is highly subjective, its aim is to awake feelings in the wiever and to speak about contemporary issues. And visually the stage will become an expressionistic painting during the performance.
The only reoccuring charachter i Expressions is a western, occidental male between 40 and 50 years old. Inspired by swedish politicians and buissnessmen.
The western occidental man is a symbol for wealth and power for many people in the world today, and people have strong feelings about him. but how does he relate to the shifts of society, to the changing balance of power in the world, to the projections that the rest of the world place on him? Does he actually feel strong? What is he afraid of? What does he long for? How does he react to other people? How do we colour him?
Expressions show that who ever we are, we influence each other. We are connected through invisible threads. Threads that the theatre performance wants to make visible. In this aspect it is a protest against tendencies in society today that wants us to see each other as strangers.
